Who is Coco Martin?
He is the one and only 'Prince of Philippine Independent Cinema'. Indie film directors fell in love with his natural acting talent and good looks. Eventually, the indie favorite became one of the most sought-after leading men in the mainstream TV world.
Rodel Nacianceno, a.k.a. Coco Martin didn't really start his showbiz career via an indie film years ago. He was first introduced as a member of Star Circle Batch 9. He decided to quit from his month-long showbiz training when he felt like he is getting nowhere and he wanted to pursue his college instead. Call it a stroke of luck, but the once Star Circle teen newbie entered the world of the then-young independent movie cinema.

From Indie to Mainstream
Coco Martin starred in a number of independent films which includes Masahista, Tambolista, Daybreak, Jay, Serbis, Kinatay among others.
Due to his good looks and outstanding talent when it comes to acting, ABS-CBN signed him up to play the role of Ramon in the primetime teleserye Tayong Dalawa with Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca. He was paired with Fil/Italian actress Alessandra de Rossi. The fans of the show even said that Coco Martin gave a better performance compared to the real lead stars of the series.
He was also paired to Maja Salvador in the afternoon sexy-drama Nagsimula sa Puso, where he played the role of Carlo, a student who fell in love and became obsessed with his teacher. His last teleserye is Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo, where he plays the role of Ringo.
Just this year, Coco Martin went back to his indie roots. He co-produced and played the lead role in the docu-drama Noy. He is also set to do an independent film with a French actress to be directed once again by Brillante Mendoza.
Recently, it was revealed that Coco Martin is the newest partner of Sarah Geronimo in the upcoming musical-serye Idol. His first main stream movie under Star Cinema is also on the works.
