Pet-Friendly Destinatons in the Philippines

Filipinos are certified pet lovers. In fact, almost 70% of the people residing in a certain town have pets at home. Sometimes, they bring their loving pets with them when they travel especially on road trips.

Although I never owned a pet in my entire life (we lived in a condominium which didn’t allow pets to come over), I am still a keen observer everytime I travel with my friends. I’ve noticed a number of tourist spots in the Philippines that is considered as a ‘pet-friendly destination’, not unless if you’re bringing a dangerous specie with you when you go out.

To those who are curious to know some of the Pet-Friendly Destinations in the Philippines, here they are!

Camp John Hay in Baguio City

Baguio City is the summer capital of the Philippines due to its nice weather. Camp John Hay is one of the favorite destinations of families and friends who would like to do picnics and simply enjoying the beauty of nature. People are allowed to bring their pets with them as long as they will look after them. Just last July, I found out that there is a part in Camp John Hay called the ‘Pet Cemetery’ or the ‘Cemetery of Negativism’. No, not real pets are buried there, but instead, we bury some of the negative things that eats us up. Since pets are somewhat the same with humans in terms of emotions, the person who is behind this wonderful idea thought of having pets to symbolize every worry and guilt.

The Serendra in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

The Serendra in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Metro Manila is considered as one of the posh establishments within Metro Manila, Philippines. You can spot the most expensive restaurants and boutiques there. The place is barely new compared to other shopping and dining place, but what makes this specific spot really special is that children and adults can freely bring their pets as they walk. If you are a pet lover, hanging out in Serendra during weekends will surely entertain you. You will different breeds of dogs and cats gallivanting together with their respective owners. Rawr!

Sabang Beach - Puerto Princesa, Palawan

When we went to Sabang Beach in Puerto Princesa, Palawan last March, we saw a number of dogs around. Some of which are owned by people living beside the beach. Some are also brought by their owners, who are mostly tourists from the different provinces of the Philippines. What I actually observed is that most places in Puerto Princesa are not strict when it comes to pets. Not only is Puerto Princesa popular for its excellent coral reefs, clean islands and beaches and natural wonders, but it is also considered as a pet-friendly destination. You can now ask your dog to run with you while on the beach!

Billabong Surf School in San Juan, La Union

La Union is one of the surfing spots in the Philippines. The fact that Luke Landrigan, one of the best surfers in Asia and an effective product endorser is regularly seen in his very own Billabong Surf School. Being a dog lover himself, he is often seen surfing with his pet dog which also influenced some  tourists to freely bring their pets over. It’s nice to surf with your best pet buddy as your cheerleader, right? :P

UP Sunken Garden in Quezon City

The University of the Philippines is not only known as the best university in the Philippines. People love to stroll around the campus primarily because they were able to preserve the trees and other plants that help keep it clean and green. The Sunken Garden is a favorite spot of those who love to walk with their pets. Lovely!

There’s more Pet-Friendly Destinations in the Philippines, but those mentioned so far are some of those I’ve observed with my own eyes. It will also serve as a reminder to you to not worry if you’re planning to bring your pets in the places featured above. Happy vacation! :D
